Jose Mourinho speaks out on Real rumours, Ronaldo, Juventus, Chelsea and provides injury update
Manchester United host Juventus in one of the glamour games in the Champions League. Cristiano Ronaldo will be back at Old Trafford following his one-game ban after a red card vs Valencia.
Ahead of the game, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has faced the press.
Mourinho responds to Real rumours
No, I’m happy here. I’m happy to see out my contract and I’d like to stay after my contract runs out. All I’m thinking about is Manchester United.
On facing Ronaldo
I thought Cristiano is at a level where he doesn’t need questions and answers. He’s one of the best players of all time and nobody can say differently.
Jose provides Valencia update
The reason he didn’t play against Chelsea] was that he was 10 days without training with a problem. Not an injury, but a problem that he had very complicated surgery on his mouth. Ten days without training and needed time to recover after that.
Reaction to Chelsea draw
Against Chelsea, there were contradictions in our feelings. Everyone was happy with the collective performances but no-one was happy with the result. I told the players you have to try and get the best out of these feelings.
Jose getting agitated
I don’t like this press conference. No. I don’t want to speak about Pogba, I don’t want to speak about individuals. I don’t want to speak to Spanish journalists only interested in Real Madrid.
Mourinho on Ianni incident
I’m serious, I want to thank Sarri for his honesty. I want to thank Chelsea for their honest too, but I’m not happy that it’s going too far with the young boy. He doesn’t deserve that. I accepted his apologies. I don’t think he deserves to be sacked.
Jose on Martial
That’s individual but I think Martial is like the team. The team is playing fine and Martial is playing fine. Anthony has been involved in two matches where the team has scored five goals.
Jose on Juve
They now have a special player who makes a difference. They are more than contenders to win the Champions League in my opinion. Bonucci, they have Cancelo and they have Can and there are other important additions. Juventus have a lot to offer and an extra year experience with the same coach and structure.
