To supporters’ major surprise Jurgen Klopp opted to substitute Mohamed Salah in 0-0 draw against Manchester United.
Salah was substituted with 11 minutes remaining of the goalless draw at Old Trafford amid raucous cheers from the home supporters, and Klopp admitted afterwards that the Premier League's joint-top scorer was not at his best.
The Egyptian has scored only one goal in his five appearances but Klopp is adamant that it is just a momentary blip.
The Liverpool boss said: “Mo knows he can play better than he did today, we know he can.
“Two weeks ago we played against Bournemouth and he was unbelievable.
“In big games, against Bayern he was up against (David) Alaba who is a world-class player himself. “It's about how we use him, how we play him, all that stuff. Today obviously Lindelof and Shaw together did a pretty good job.”
Asked why the Egyptian underperformed, Klopp said: “I don't (know) exactly.
“But I'm not here to be disappointed. I'm here to help the players to play their best football."
