Jurgen Klopp has agreed with the decision to redo the Champions League draw and thinks his Liverpool side are in for a proper clas when they take on Inter Milan in the last-16.
Liverpool were initially drawn to play Red Bull Salzburg in the first draw on Monday morning that took place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon.
But a technical error meant the original draw was voided after Manchester United's ball was not in the pot as one of the teams to potentially play Atletico Madrid, with United also being drawn against Villareal, a team who they could not face.
This raised concerns over the validity of the draw, and questions were raised directly by Atletico in a statement released on their Twitter account.
Then UEFA confirmed that the draw would be done again and the first one conducted would be voided.
And Klopp believes UEFA made the right call to do it again, as he said:
“Definitely. I saw it live and I thought, ‘You cannot let it stand like this, there’s no chance.’ Definitely, they had to do it again.
“I had to wait 54 years to play at the San Siro for the first time… and now it’ll be twice in three months, so that’s good news!
“All good. Of course, it is a tough draw, definitely. They are the league leaders in Italy; a good team in a good moment. We will see how things go until we meet in February.”
