Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool intervention to seal Timo Werner transfer suffers setback

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's transfer pursuit of Timo Werner has suffered a delay due to coronavirus pandemic. The RB Leipzig star has long been maintained as a potential summer signing for Klopp. He has scored 27 times in 36 matches this season, including four in the Champions League. Klopp is believed to view Werner as a much-needed alternative to Liverpool's famed front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. According to Bild, Klopp is desperate to meet the forward in person to persuade the player to make the move to Anfield. However, the coronavirus pandemic, which has wreaked destruction all over the globe, has prevented this meeting from taking place thus far. It remains to be seen if the Premier League giants will be able to thrash out a deal this summer. Source: The Mirror
