Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Bayern Munich are in for a treat if they use Philippe Coutinho correctly, and compared the Brazilian to a modern-day football legend.
Coutinho joined Barcelona in a £148million move in January 2018 but failed to live up the expectations and signed a season-long deal with Bayern Munich on Monday.
Before his move to Bundesliga, the Brazilian had been linked with Liverpool.
However, Liverpool quickly decided that they didn’t want to re-sign him.
“[He has] an outstanding eye for the situation,” Klopp told German football magazine
Kicker .
“Not since Alessandro del Piero have I seen any [player] who finishes moves from the left to the inside with the same frequency.”
“[He is a] the very dominant player who helps a team properly,” said Klopp, although he added that “it will not be like that from day one. “But from the first day onwards they [Bayern] will get a great player. Now they have to integrate and treat him so that they get the full package, and then the Bundesliga has a real top player.”
