Klay Thompson has ignored the Los Angeles Lakers and believes the Boston Celtics are instead the Golden State Warriors’ greatest threat to a third straight NBA championship.
LeBron James’ move to L.A. seemingly makes them contenders in the post-season despite five years outside of the playoffs.
“I like the team out East in Boston,” Thompson told ESPN this week. “They’ve got a very nice young team.
“One through five, man, they’ve got a team that kind of mirrors ours, as far as their length, guys who can shoot and play defence, and an unselfish way about things. So, I think that they are going to be a team to reckon with.”
And ESPN analyst and former Warrior Stephen Jackson is in total agreement with Thompson.
He told The Jump: “He knows what he’s talking about, it’s a younger version of the Warriors. They don’t have as much championship experience but it’s just a younger version.
“They got great young talent, a lot of future stars on their team. It’s a lot different but if you have to compare a team to them that’s the closest to them, you have to go to Boston."
