Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists his Liverpool team want to create their own history.
“We want to create our own history so the first time in the Premier League (the club is) unbeaten (at halfway), and we conceded seven goals, that is good. Numbers good, good situation, but 19 games to go,” he said.
“A six-point lead... that means nothing. We play Arsenal and City. Good that we have six points more than other teams but that is pretty much what we wanted to do all the time, create a basis for the rest of the season. Now the first part of the season is over. But we play City soon - if I was them I would think there are only four points because we still have to play them, then we play Arsenal before then as well. So we play Arsenal, we play City, we play Tottenham, we play all the teams again. It’s a very difficult, very long way to go, we know that.”
Klopp though was impressed with professionalism from his side that wasn't always evident last season
“If you are 2-0 up or whatever, you had to control the game. In the past we became, I wouldn’t say sloppy, but we lost a bit of concentration. Now we are much more awake, we control it in a better way,” he said.
“We switch sides, we still prepare and create, maybe not as many as would be possible but still enough. We can score still goals and that is good. But we have to win our games, we have to be focused, we have to be really in the mood and have tunnel vision and see where it will lead us.”
The Reds have a six-point advantage over Tottenham and a seven-point gap to Champions Manchester City.
