Leeds United have targeted Velez Sarsfield's Thiago Almada, labelled as "New Messi, and Stuttgart’s Nicolas Gonzalez, according to
Ole.
Leeds were promoted from the Championship last week and will play again in the Premier League after a long-term absence. As the club are eager to improve the squad for the next season, they have eyed the young duo amid their interest in Adolfo Gaich, Matias Zaracho and Lucas Martinez Quarta.
According to
Mundo Deportivo, Almada is valued at around £20 million and has been linked with Arsenal and Barcelona.
Speaking about the player, former youth coach Eduardo Hernandez told
Clarin:
“Almada is much more technical (than Carlos Tevez). Carlitos always stood out for his delivery and his desire. But with the ball, Thiago is better.”
Gonzalez scored 15 goals in 29 appearances with Stuttgart, securing promotion to the Bundesliga in 2019/20. Last week he told
Tuttomercatoweb:
“I had a wonderful time in Germany, but now I’ve made up my mind: I need a change of scene. I want to leave Stuttgart. I’ve already spoken to the club and I’m ready for a new chapter in my career.”
