Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has stated his side can get even better this season – as Ayoze Perez returned to haunt St James' Park.
The Foxes are ten points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool and staying ahead of top four rivals (Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham) after beating Newcastle 3-0 on New Year's Day.
"We will do our best to develop and improve," said Rodgers.
"I would expect us to. It is only the first half of the season. The potential excites me. We have to be hungry. I want to develop the team and players and to see where it takes us.”
He also talked about Ayoze Perez, who scored one of the Foxes' goals against Newcastle:
“Perez was terrific in his energy, attitude and his pressing. He is adapting to a new style. He played here under Rafa and was deeper. We play an attacking pressing game. He has been first class and when he plays he is intelligent and works hard and has goals. He is a fantastic player and over the next two season he will get better and better.H e is a magical player who has so much talent and confidence.”
