Lewis Hamilton spoke out on his former team McLaren following the Silverstone Grand Prix as Lando Norris came second, while Oscar Piastri was fourth.
Hamilton started his Formula One career by driving for McLaren from 2007 to 2012 and then joined Mercedes.
The seven-time World Champion came third during his home Grand Prix on Sunday as Max Verstappen won the race.
“For us to get on the podium was huge and huge congrats to Lando and McLaren. That’s where I started so to see them back doing so well was great," said Hamilton.
This was the first time since 1999, that two British drivers had finished on the podium.
Speaking on that, the Mercedes driver said: "That’s pretty cool. It [the crowd] gets better and better every year. Each year is the pinnacle, the energy everyone brings is just phenomenal.”
“I didn’t do it, the crowd did it. I felt the energy and support and that’s why we got back up there. We’re not so far away. We can keep pushing and catch those guys at the front," he added.
