Lionel Messi ‘can leave Barcelona for FREE at the end of the season’

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi can leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season as part of his contract clause, according to El Pais. The publication claims, that Messi has an agreement with the Catalan giants that allows him to depart on June 30, at the end of each campaign. Messi has extended his contract eight times since 2005 and it is understood in his last extension, in 2017, a clause was included which allows him to leave at the end of any season. The 32-year-old’s current deal runs out in 2021.
