Liverpool have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago on a four-year contract with deal potentially costing £31million. However, that will leave Jurgen Klopp with a decision to make a big decision this summer.
Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed Thiago's wish for a new challenge, with Liverpool seemingly leading the race for his signature. Klopp has previously listed Thiago as a player he would consider as a dream signing.
If Thiago does complete a move to Anfield though, he joins an already packed midfield.
Klopp uses a midfield three, regularly rotating between Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Georgina Wijnaldum, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita. Adam Lallana has also featured 22 times this past season, but he will leave as a free agent in the summer. Young Curtis Jones has also emerged as a future talent.
But there is still some doubt on Wijnaldum's future at the club with just one year remaining on his contract. He has played more games than any other midfielder at the club and is a clear favourite under Klopp.
Liverpool had made a breakthrough in negotiations with Wijnaldum on a new deal. But the growing speculation on a move for Thiago could be a sign those negotiations with Wijnaldum may have broken down.
