Liverpool assistant boss Pepijn Lijnders thinks, the Liverpool team that won the Champions League was a different side to the one that started the competition.
In last season’s tournament, Liverpool started in Group C and finished second behind Paris Saint-Germain and they beat Bayern Munich in the last-16 before beating Porto in the quarter-finals.
The Reds were drawn against Barcelona in the semi-final and battered 3-0 at the Nou Camp, however, they beat the La Liga giants 4-0 at Anfield.
In the final, Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0.
Explaining the development of the Liverpool squad over the course of last year's competition, Lijnders told the
Liverpool website: "I always said the team that started the Champions League campaign last year is not the team who won it.
"The team really made steps constantly, players individually made steps constantly.
"That is, of course, satisfying and that's how it should be. But it only comes because we focus each day on the process; we win but it's a logical result of planning and preparation."
