Liverpool fans give their verdict on Steven Gerrard after Jurgen Klopp exit amid Rangers struggles

Liverpool fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on Steven Gerrard becoming the club’s next head coach after Jurgen Klopp amid his struggles at Rangers. Gerrard's side have suffered in their campaign before the coronavirus suspension. And, it had been believed Rangers would provide a strict test to Neil Lennon and co. this season. Rangers had entered the winter break trailing Celtic by just two points having played one game less, with high hopes that they could maintain their domestic dominance, having won the last 10 available league and cup trophies. That was after they beat Celtic 2-1 on December 29, but since then they have won just three of six matches, suffered losses at Hearts and Kilmarnock while also drawing at home to Aberdeen. Gerrard, who is remembered as the Reds icon- having spent 17 years at Anfield, is believed to  return to Liverpool in 2022. However, Jurgen Klopp has already signed an extension to commit himself to the European champions until 2024, while Gerrard also signed a new deal to stay at Ibrox until the same summer. Many Liverpool fans aren’t so convinced their former captain has the credentials to replace Klopp, who looks to end the club’s 30-year wait for a title, should the season be resumed. One fan said on Twitter: “Love him but please keep Gerrard as far away from the club as possible, nice one x @LFC.” “Gerrard has more chance of managing Tranmere than Liverpool at this rate. #LFC,” another said. A third wrote: “Gerrard doing a good job showing why we won’t want him replacing Klopp I see.” Another predicted: “No chance Gerrard becomes the next @LFC manager he'll be sacked at Rangers in the next year.” “Gerrard will never be manager of Liverpool,” predicted a fifth. One Reds supporter posted: “2024 is far too early for Gerrard to take over at Liverpool.” “Steven Gerrard won't manage Liverpool as it hurts to say that,” said another supporter. One more said: “Keep Gerrard far far away from that Liverpool manager position.” Another took a dig at  Manchester United, who trail Liverpool by 36 points under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. “If we get Gerrard after Klopp, we will be just a bad as the current Manchester United side,” they joked. While another demanded Klopp first get a job elsewhere in England’s top flight. They wrote: “Okay so in 2024 when klopp leaves if Gerrard doesnt prove himself in the Prem i dont want him to be LFC manager, he has to earn that job imo.” Source- Daily and Sunday Express
