Napoli were eliminated from the competition after Mohamed Salah’s first-half goal but the Reds were in danger when Alisson denied Arkadiusz Milik’s close-range strike. Before the match would kick off Mertens confessed that he didn’t see anything special about the stadium’s atmosphere but Liverpool fans proved him vice versa when Salah’s strike blew the roof off the place. Mertens was brought off in the 67th minute and fans were instantly reminded of the Belgian’s pre-match comments about Anfield.
