Liverpool fans have set up on
online petition to ban Barcelona star Lionel Messi for the second leg of Champions League semi-final.
Fans claim, that Messi punched Fabinho and they are relying on the footage, which shows Messi running into the box when the Brazilian blocked him.
Messi’s hand does appear to make contact with Fabinho before the Argentine drops to the ground and wins a free-kick. Fabinho meanwhile can be seen holding his head.
Words accompanying the petition read: "So basically Messi gets a free-kick for punching Fabinho in the head and scores it, I feel like this needs to be looked at by UEFA."
Liverpool were defeated by Barcelona with a 3-0 score, thanks to goals from Messi and Luis Suarez. The Reds must win the second leg at Anfield by four clear goals to progress.
