Liverpool handed huge Champions League boost ahead of Porto showdown

Liverpool take on the Portuguese outfit in the first leg at Anfield on Tuesday night. Porto are facing major disciplinary issues for their Champions League quarter-final tie against Liverpool. The Portuguese outfit will be without two of their most senior players through suspension. Pepe misses out after picking up a booking in the last-16 victory over Roma, when ex-Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko theatrically reacted to a head-to-head confrontation between the pair. Porto skipper Hector Herrera was also booked in the match, and is banned for the game at Anfield. In addition, three Porto players go into the match knowing that a booking will see them miss the return leg back in Portugal on April 17. Meanwhile, Liverpool will be missing left back Andy Robertson after he was booked in the closing stages of the 3-1 win at Bayern Munich in the last-16, with the Scot set to be replaced by James Milner at left-back. Liverpool beat Porto 5-0 on aggregate in the last-16 of the competition last season, with all five goals coming in the first leg in Portugal.
