Liverpool defender Joel Matip could be ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up a groin injury against West Brom on Sunday.
The 29-year-old has struggled with injury problems ever since his free transfer from Bundesliga side Schalke in 2016, missing a total of 60 games during that timeframe.
According to
Transfer Tavern, Jurgen Klopp's side are quite worried that they might have lost Matip for anywhere between three to six months after he picked up a groin injury during the Reds’ 1-1 draw with West Brom.
Matip was forced off in the second half of the game and whilst the defender will need to take a scan to assess the full extent of the damage, there are major concerns that he has suffered a significant tear, which would see him ruled out for a significant period of time, possibly the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.
