Liverpool went to great lengths to ensure Barcelona snatched no more of their star players after Philippe Coutinho’s departure in 2018.
Coutinho joined Barcelona, however, struggled to impress and has since been loaned out to Bayern Munich.
According to the
Daily Star, Liverpool inserted a clause in the Coutinho deal that meant the Catalan side would have to pay €100million (£89m) for any other Reds player they wanted to sign before 2020.
Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have been linked with the Catalan giants; however, the clause protected Liverpool from losing either of their forwards.
