Liverpool are actively seeking a new defender in the January transfer window, and they reportedly maintain interest in young Chelsea talent Levi Colwill.
The 20-year-old has become a regular in Mauricio Pochettino's first team, featuring in the majority of Chelsea's games this season.
Despite significant interest last summer from clubs like Liverpool, Brighton, Manchester City, and Tottenham, Colwill signed a contract extension with the Blues until 2029. However, reports suggest that Jurgen Klopp's side are still monitoring Colwill's situation and may consider making a move, given their current need for defensive reinforcements.
With Joel Matip ruled out for the season and injuries to left-backs Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, as well as Trent Alexander-Arnold's expected return, Liverpool are actively exploring options.
Colwill's versatility, being capable of playing at both centre-back and left-back, makes him an attractive prospect for Klopp. While Chelsea have not indicated a willingness to sell him, any potential transfer could provide financial benefits for Stamford Bridge, helping them address concerns about breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
Other homegrown players like Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja are also linked with possible moves away from Chelsea, contributing to potential FFP compliance. In the meantime, Colwill is expected to feature in Chelsea's crucial Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg match against Middlesbrough.
