Liverpool lost out some money for Coutinho after knocking out Barcelona from Champions League
Liverpool produced one of the greatest European comebacks in the history of Champions League. Jurgen Klopp’s side managed to beat Barcelona 4-0 at Anfield Road (4-3 on agg.) to reach UCL final for the second consecutive season.Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum scored twice each, while Barcelona’s attacking players, including Lionel Messi and two former Reds players Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho failed to use their chances due to Alisson Becker’s incredible game. Coutinho, who has completed a move to Barcelona for £142 m is having hard time, while Liverpool have been earning money for the Brazilian due to Barcelona’s success in Champions League playoffs. As reported by LiverpoolECHO, Liverpool have earned additional £4.3 m when Barcelona reached UCL quarterfinals and semi-finals. Merseyside club also had losses as Barcelona were supposed to pay additional £5 m in case they beat Liverpool and reach the final. Liverpool will face Tottenham on June 1st at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
