Liverpool have reportedly made an unsuccessful attempt to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
Throughout the offseason and the early weeks of the new season, the Reds faced difficulties in finding the right additions to their midfield. Despite bringing in Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2022-23, Jurgen Klopp struggled to secure a high-profile defensive-minded and combative midfielder.
After missing out on targets like Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, the Merseysiders eventually chose to sign Japan international Wataru Endo for a significantly lower fee than what they would have spent on their initial targets.
Furthermore, the team did use some of their remaining funds to acquire Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
According to reports from AS (h/t Sports Mole), the German manager and his board were willing to offer £100 million for Newcastle's Brazilian star in the final week before the transfer window closed.
However, the Magpies firmly rejected the offer, determined to keep one of their key players and prevent the rival from gaining an advantage in the race for a top-four position in the Premier League.
