Kai Havertz names Liverpool outcast Erik Meijer as one of his favourite players to watch growing up, alongside Ronaldinho, Andreas Iniesta, Zinedine Zidane and Kaka.
Arsenal have published an article called "13 things you might not know about Kai Havertz", where the Germany international's hometown heroes, unusual idol and more interesting facts are revealed. The signing of the ex-Chelsea man was announced by June 28. Mikel Arteta's side signed the 23-year-old on a five-year deal.

Erik Meijer had a brief and relatively unremarkable time at Liverpool, which led to him being seen as somewhat of an outcast during his time at the club. The Dutch forward joined Liverpool in 1999 but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter and make a significant impact on the pitch. Meijer often found himself on the fringes of the team, facing competition from other talented players in the squad.
A key reason for Havertz to favor Meijer is the latter's last gig as a striker for Alemannia Aachen, while Kai became a regular presence in the stands.
