Liverpool star went on Twitter to share his apology

Liverpool defender Mohamed Salah issued his apology to Liverpool fans after Manchester United beat them in securing a Champions League spot for the next season.

In his "devastated" message, the Egyptian player highlighted that there are "no excuses" for the disappointment they caused with this season's performance. He further added, that for a club like Liverpool, qualifying for the supreme competition would be a bare minimum and apologized for not meeting that stand. "We let you and ourselves down," concluded Salah, who tweets on very rare occasions.

Despite the club's underperformance, the 30-year-old has scored 30 goals this season and is only one goal away from becoming the first player in the English league to strike 20 balls and make 10 assists.

This is the first time that Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League under the management of Jurgen Klopp.
