Former Bayern Munich star Lothar Matthäus states he can see Manchester United target Corentin Tolisso being sold by the German champions this summer. The World Cup winner has struggled with multiple long-term injuries since joining Bayern in 2017 and has only featured 13 times in the Bundesliga this season.
Despite speculation of United making contact with the Frenchman over a potential transfer, Tolisso’s agent confirmed last week that there are no ongoing talks between the two parties.
However, Matthäus believes that Tolisso could be sold by the German club.
"[Hansi] Flick has confirmed that there will also be departures. I am thinking primarily of Philippe Coutinho and Javi Martinez – but also of Corentin Tolisso and Lucas Hernandez," Matthäus told Sky Germany. "The latter two are world champions and of course want to play regularly and be important to their team. They are certainly good football players for whom things have been very unfortunate lately.
"By this I mean above all the long and bitter injuries that they have suffered. Like every professional, the cruciate ligament rupture set him back for a long time. ‘In his central midfield position, Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich, Thiago and Thomas Müller have been playing like stars for months."
