Manchester City fans were left in tears by a simple David Silva message after the Spaniard made a stunning performance against Newcastle on Wednesday. Silva set up two goals and scored a beautiful free-kick as the Citizens smashed Newcastle 5-0 at the Etihad.
After the game, which could have been one of his last at the Etihad, he posted an emotional message to his team-mates on Twitter.
He shared an image of himself celebrating his goal with Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan with the caption:
"I’m gonna miss this team" along with a blue heart emoji.
City fans responded to say they were brought to tears by the message, with many urging him to stay.
One wrote: "Stay David, love you so much."
"How about you stay so you don't have to miss them?" another asked.
One City fan joked: "Yo who's cutting onions?
One admitted: "David I'm gonna cry my eyes out when you play your last game for City. I'm 47."
