Manchester City are prepared to pull the plug on a move for Kalidou Koulibaly as Napoli stand strong on their £81.5million asking price.
City have already bolstered their defensive options ahead of next season after signing Nathan Ake from Bournemouth. However, reports continue to link Pep Guardiola's side with a move for Koulibaly.
According to
Il Mattino, City and Napoli have been locked in negotiations over the past few weeks. The Serie A side though aren't willing to accept anything less than £81.5m. It is reported City are onlyready to offer as much as £63m though, leaving the two clubs far apart in terms of the final fee.
Koulibaly's agent, Fali Ramadani, has reportedly stepped in to warn Napoli that City could soon end all interest in signing the defender.
The Senegal international has also attracted interests from City rivals Manchester United, however, an £82m offer had been rejected by Napoli, with United swiftly moving their attention on to Harry Maguire.
