Manchester United are reportedly interested in securing a loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur's player Ivan Perisic for the current season.
According to a report by Football Transfers, the Red Devils had initiated contact with the agent of the Croatian international, exploring the possibility of his transfer.
However, the player's representatives have rejected this initial approach. The Red Devils are in search of a player who can step in as a temporary replacement for Luke Shaw, as the English player has sustained a significant injury, ruling him out for several weeks.
With the ability to function both as a left winger and a full-back, the 34-year-old showcased his prowess in the full-back position while playing for Spurs under Antonio Conte.
He notably contributed 12 assists across various competitions in the previous season. Given his skill set and seasoned experience, Perisic would have been a valuable addition to Erik ten Hag's squad particularly through a loan agreement.
United have been linked with several other potential full-back options, including Marc Cucurella and Marcos Alonso. The club's efforts to secure the appropriate reinforcement before the closure of the summer transfer window will be watched with interest.
