Manchester United give update on Edinson Cavani contract extension

Manchester United are set for talks with Edinson Cavani over his future at Old Trafford. The player joined United on a one-year contract with the option of an additional year. According to MEN, United have not triggered the extension. Cavani has scored seven goals in 24 appearances for United and has cemented his place as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's favoured centre forward. Back on Boxing Day Solskjaer said, Cavani has 'a few years left'. "I can only say Edinson has done well," Solskjaer said. "I’ve been impressed by him, he’s really gelled in the group and we’ll sit down and speak with him in the near future to see his plans and our plans. It’s a good discussion to have, we always speak to the players and with his contract situation at the moment we’re very pleased with what he’s done." It seems likely that United will offer to extend the South American's contract, but Solskjaer says that will be determined by talks with his representatives before the end of the season. United like to resolve contract issues by the end of March.
