Manchester United have racked up the highest wage bill in Premier League history, despite recording the worst start to the season in 30 years.
The magnificent £332 million yearly wage bill is an all-time high and has grown by £100m or 43% in the past three years.
According to Swiss Ramble, a financial blogger on Twitter, until 2012 United’s wages were only the third highest in England, behind Manchester City and Chelsea.
Among the top players getting paid a significant amount of money, are David de Gea, Paul Pogba and Inter Milan loanee Alexis Sanchez.
Goalkeeper de Gea recently signed a new £375,000-a-week deal, while Paul Pogba gets paid £290,000-a-week.
The wage bill increased from £296m to £332m in recent months, as Red Devils wanted to improve the first-team squad.
This also includes seven months of salary paid to Alexis Sanchez, who earns £400,000 a week at United.
Although paying the highest salaries in England, Manchester United suffered a poor start to the season, and after the latest Premier League 1-0 loss to Newcastle they dropped to the 12th place on the table.
