Less than 50 hours until the summer transfer window closes, Manchester United are considering Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur as an alternative to March Cucurella from Chelsea.
Although the Red Devils are currently the frontrunners to land the Chelsea man, recent signs suggest that the deal might not be reached for 100%. Yet, according to The Athletic it is not completely off yet.
Erik ten Hag's side are monitoring Reguilon in case they fail in their pursuit of Cucurella. The Spurs man is seen as a backup for Luke Shaw, who is currently out due to injury. United are yet to approach Spurs for this deal.
Although Reguilon has been struggling since his arrival at the Premier League, he has impressed during his time at Sevilla earlier in his career. Cucurella was, highly criticized by Chelsea fans in the last months, but recent performances seem to have shifted the perception around his role at Stamford Bridge.
According to David Ornstein the Red Devils are now in advanced talks with Tottenham for Reguilon. As Fabrizio Romano adds, Cucurella's deal with United can collapse due to this new targeting.
