Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly with a view to a mega January move.
Red Devils are 19 points behind rivals Liverpool and are desperate to land defensive reinforcement next month.
They have also conceded as many goals already this season as they did in the entirety of the last campaign. Reportedly, Jose Mourinho has sent scouts to watch the 27-year-old centre-back during Napoli’s defeat against Liverpool at Anfield last week.
An Old Trafford source said: “The club had people there and it wasn’t just to run the rule over Liverpool. They wanted to see what Koulibaly was like against English opposition after watching him a few times in Italy.
“He impressed everyone and the need for players at the back has never been more evident.”
Reportedly, United are willing to pay £90m for the Senegal ace who signed a new five-year deal in September.
