Manchester United star Eric Bailly was substituted against Newcastle when United fell 2-0 down to the Premier League strugglers. Juan Mata came on in his place, with Mourinho giving him a lengthy embrace, but Rio Ferdinand believes the Ivory Coast international won’t find a ‘way back’ after his humiliating substitution against Newcastle.
‘I feel sorry for Scott McTominay – he’s a central midfielder being forced to play centre-half,’ Ferdinand told BT Sport. ‘And this guy… I don’t see a way back for Bailly.
‘Dragged off – the manager stated the last game he doesn’t have defenders who can play the ball out from the back and he’s been made the fall guy here.’
Manchester United fought back from two down to beat Newcastle 3-2.
