How Manchester United's FA Cup exit will affect their preparations for Barcelona Champions League tie
Manchester United are a club that exists to win trophies and no one in the club wanted to lose to Wolves in the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday night. It was the first back-to-back defeat for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at a time when he will be desperate to boost his claims for the job full-time. However, there is some good news for the Norwegian because he has got extra time to prepare for the Champions League quarter-final game against Barcelona. That's because when United drew Wolves in the FA Cup, the teams agreed to move their Premier League fixture forward by a few days to April 2, knowing that one of them would have to play in an FA Cup semi-final on either April 6 or 7, the original weekend the game was going to be on.It will now be Wolves who go to Wembley, leaving United free on that weekend. So Solskjaer will have a full eight days to prepare for the visit of Barcelona to Old Trafford for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on April 10.Barca meanwhile, have a hectic run of games around that time. They face Espanyol on March 30, Villarreal away on April 2 and second-placed Atletico Madrid on the evening April 6, leaving only three full days to prepare for the trip to United.
