"[Mount] should have started but he got ill overnight and so we sent him home to London so that we can take care of him better and that he can recover better," head coach Thomas Tuchel explained before the game. The 22-year-old took to Twitter to explain his absence further, confirming that his illness was not COVID related.
"Gutted to have missed the game but what a performance from the lads to get the win," Mount wrote. "Woke up and didn’t feel 100% (non COVID related) but will hopefully be fully recovered over the next couple of days. Up the CHELS!"
