Michael Carrick praises Kevin De Bruyne, admits it "hurts" to talk highly about him

Michael Carrick has raved about Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, claiming the Belgium international is a "frightening" and "wonderful" player. The Citizens celebrated a 4 - 1 win over Manchester United at the weekend, with De Bruyne playing a key role in that game. Carrick was impressed by the midfielder's performance. Though, it was a hurtful challenge for the former United man to share his praise for a footballer from a rival team. “He has such variety to his game. He can play all across the front, or in midfield. He has so many attributes, it is frightening. When they need him there, he’s there. He’s always in the right position," Carrick said about De Bruyne on PLP’s Matchday Extra. “He’s the one they will give that bit of freedom to. A wonderful player. For me, as a big United fan, to speak about a City player, it hurts a little bit,” he added.
