Michael Owen has given his prediction for Chelsea's next season in the Premier League under the potential new boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The Blues played a 1 - 0 defeat to Manchester City in the domestic top tier on Sunday, with the rivals lifting the desired title at the end of the game. Frank Lampard's side are currently sitting in 12th place in the league table with 43 points.
Despite their recent loss to City, Owen is confident that the arrival of Pochettino as head coach will lead Chelsea back into the Champions League positions. Former Premier League star believes the Blues will make a comeback and secure a spot in the top four next season following their disappointing 2022/23 campaign.
"I think they will [finish in the top four next season]. The most important thing at that club is to get rid of players. You can never, ever have a squad of that much quality and have harmony," he said on Premier League Productions, via Metro UK.
"You’re constantly draining all your energy trying to keep 30 players happy. I think the main thing now is to get rid of half a dozen players, focus on a smaller pool, and I think they will do alright next season," Owen added.
