Mikel Arteta has spoken out on Jurrien Timber's injury as Arsenal prepare to face Crystal Palace on Monday, August 21.
The Gunners confirmed that Timber suffered an ACL injury in his right knee and will undergo surgery.
Arteta's side faced Forest in the Premier League season opener on Saturday and celebrated a 2-1 win as Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka scored.
Timber suffered an injury during the game and limped off in the 50th minute as Takehiro Tomiyasu replaced him.
The 22-year-old signed for Arsenal during the summer transfer window 2023.
Speaking during a press conference, Arteta said: "Huge blow. Especially for him after just joining the club. We recruited him with clear intentions and what he was bringing to the team was evident."
"I’m more thinking about the resources in the team to do what we want to do. But it’s true he was giving us a lot on both sides," Arteta said when asked about potential transfers after Timber.
"We are always open and we have to be open as well to the injuries but also to react to the market."
