Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke out on returning to Ibrox as the Gunners faced Rangers in a pre-season friendly. Arteta has been a Rangers player from 2002 to 2004.
The Gunners played a 2-2 draw as Nuno Tavares scored his debut goal, meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah also got his name on the scoresheet. From Rangers, Leon Balogun and Cedric Itten got their names on the scoresheet.
Following the game, Arteta told Arsenal’s
official website about returning to Ibrox: “It looks exactly the same. It’s one of my favourite stadiums, that’s for sure.
“It’s so special, the atmosphere here, how I was treated for two years. It was my first English experience with the Scottish people that are very, very special for me.”
The Arsenal boss added about clapping the Rangers fans: “It was great. It was a shame that we could not play with a full house because I would’ve loved for the players to experience it and go through a game when this stadium is rocking.”
