Jose Mourinho has claimed that Toby Alderwerield had a few doubts over his new Tottenham contract.
Spurs have started this season with Toby Alderweireld, Christian Eriksen, and Jan Vertonghen having uncertain futures at the club.
However, the first two cases have been solved during this January transfer window, as Alderweireld signed a new deal with the club, which expires in 2023, and Eriksen joined Inter Milan.
But Vertonghen's future is still uncertain.
The 30-year-old centre-back has claimed that he chose loyalty, as the club had shown him how much they rated him with a good financial deal, although he could have got more money elsewhere.
However, Spurs boss has now insisted that Toby, in fact, had a few doubts over his deal that needed settling.
Speaking with
football.london, Morinho said:
“I tried to persuade Toby when Toby told me he was having some doubts.”
