Nathan Ake reveals surprise position Pep Guardiola wants him to play at Manchester City

Nathan Ake has been signed to boost Manchester City's central defensive options, but he has hinted that manager Pep Guardiola plans to use him in midfield as well. Ake signed from Bournemouth in a £40m deal, becoming the first centre-back signing since Vincent Kompany departed last summer. After a season where City's existing four centre-backs struggled for form and fitness, Ake's arrival is a sensible move to add some depth and quality at the back. However, the defender has now revealed details of a conversation with Guardiola before signing, where he said his ability to play in three positions was one of the main reasons that prompted his new manager to sanction the transfer. Speaking to Voetbal International (via InsideFutbol), Ake said: “We talked about normal life first. That includes everything, family and how we are as people. That was easy and automatic. It is nice to get to know someone like this, for him too. "Then it was about [the fact] that I can play in multiple positions. They are happy with that and they told me that. I think it’s a bonus that I can play football in three positions. “I think we had a good conversation with each other. There was a warm feeling that felt good right away.“ Source- Manchester Evening News
