Newcastle join the race to hijack deal for Manchester United target this summer

Newcastle United could be trying to hijack a deal for Manchester United's target Kim Min-jae during the summer transfer window.

The South Korean defender played a crucial role in Napoli's Serie A title victory and has gained recognition as a top defensive talent. Following his impressive displays, the Red Devils have set their sights on the defender, with Erik ten Hag identifying him as his primary target, especially with the expected departure of Harry Maguire.

However, Newcastle United, under the management of Eddie Howe, are also interested in signing Kim and pairing him with Sven Botman for the upcoming season, according to talkSPORT, via Caught Offside.

Both clubs will aim to activate the release clause in Kim's Napoli contract, which is valid until the first half of July. The final decision is likely to depend on Kim's preference, considering that both clubs offer Champions League football and have exciting projects to offer.
