Newcastle United's injury setbacks give opportunity to its emerging talent Elliot Anderson to start in a game after limited opportunities since March.
As the Magpies prepare to take on Leicester City, with Joe Willock sustaining a hamstring injury during their recent victory over Brighton and Hove Albion. Furthermore, Joelinton also picked up a knock, adding to their injury concerns.
In light of these absences, 20-year-old Elliot Anderson is being considered for a starting role. Anderson has had limited opportunities since making an impact off the bench in their win against Nottingham Forest back in March.
“I think Elliot’s been very unlucky, when you think his last major contribution to the team was match-defining against Nottingham Forest in that second half," said Howe via the Shields Gazette.
Despite struggling to find playing time due to the team's depth, the coaching staff remains confident in Anderson's abilities and versatility. The young player showcased his adaptability when he came on as a substitute on the right side of midfield and performed admirably.
