5 things noticed from England’s official World Cup 2018 team photo

Gareth Southgate’s side board the plane to Russia on Tuesday before taking on Tunisia in their Group G opener on Monday. But before boarding their private jet, The Three Lions had their official team photo taken at St. George's Park. The lads all wore exclusively tailored suits - made by squad sponsors Marks & Spencer. Mirror Football noticed five things from England's squad photo.

Delph's questionable positioning

Whose smart idea was it to put one of the squad's smallest members in the back row? Fabian Delph was a surprise name in Southgate's 23-man squad, having been chosen over the likes of Adam Lallana and Jack Wilshere. Where he is in the picture would suggest the photographer didn't see the decision coming either. Let's hope his positioning isn't as bad at the World Cup.

Nick Pope's secret message?

A love heart? A letter? A secret message? It's quite clear that those not in the front row were told to cross their arms, with their hands flat over each other. So what is Nick Pope up to? Whatever it is, we're on to you, Pope!

Mystery Scotsman

You may be wondering who the two gentlemen are on the left and right of the photo. On the left, you have Martyn Margetson - England's goalkeeping coach. On the right, you have Allan Russell - England's striker coach. It turns out Russell was born in Glasgow making him very much Scottish. Bet you didn't know that.

Why so serious

Marcus Rashford has the ability to light the World Cup up this summer, but is the pressure already getting to him? The Manchester United striker looks both worried and a little angry.

England's vice-captain revealed?

Harry Kane was named England captain ahead of the World Cup - which was probably the right decision. But is Jordan Henderson the squad's vice-captain? The Liverpool skipper takes pride of place on the other side of Southgate, suggesting he is one of the England manager's key men.
