Three ways to know a football match may end in a draw

Four ways to know a football match may end in a draw

What if I told you there are four of many ways to know when a football match may end in a draw, would you let me tell you? If yes, please read on to find out what I know about football matches ending in draws.

But I have to make something clear. Just because the home team is the favourite to win a game, doesn't always mean they end up winning the game. The best competitions are not won by the best teams, but by the teams that put in more work. Right?

The same applies to a match that doesn't have favourites. It doesn't necessarily mean the game will end in a draw, but most times, it does. However, if you apply these four indicators below in your head whenever you search for matches to end in draws, then your chances of winning are high.

During the last international break, I tried these three indicators for the first time, and guess what? I won the bets. I was even surprised. The reactions I got before the game tried to put me out, but I maintained my composure because I didn't just make a forecast, I made informed predictions.

It was so unreal that some of the lads who commented had to ask me if I'd officiate the matches myself. After the final whistles, I won my bets, and their reactions changed positively of course.

So I selected Belarus vs Luxembourg, Poland vs Croatia and Switzerland vs Denmark to all end in draws, and they did exactly that after the final whistles. And these four indicators helped me. And I will share them with you, but it doesn't mean you will always win it.

Four Ways to know a football match may end in a draw

Below are the four ways a football match may end in a draw, and they apply in every football match, just as I did for international games.

  1. The favourites should play as visitors: If you notice the three matches I selected above, you'll see that the strongest teams play as visitors. The home fans will give their team maximum support when they come up against a stronger team, and their support may go on to help them clinch to a point. The favourites shouldn't be miles ahead of the underdogs. I thought Croatia wasn't far ahead of Poland in terms of quality players, and that fixture had draw written all over it. And if you look at the next two games, you will see I did the same thing. Also, the favourites shouldn't always play as visitors. Sometimes, the hosts can be favourites, but they do not have more quality players than their opponents.
  2. Both teams shouldn't be high goalscoring teams: Focus on teams that find it very hard to score two goals per game. Teams that find it like a whole lot of work to score two goals in a row. When focusing on draw matches, you must know if both teams are shaky going forward, and near decent at the back. When two teams, who struggle to score two goals per game meet, they are likely to share the spoils.
  3. Pay attention to their current form: When two teams struggle, they are likely to share the spoils. Imagine two teams coming off the back of four games without a win to meet against each other, both teams would rather fight to share the spoils, irrespective of the venue of the game, than to win.
  4. The competition: This is as important as the first three indicators. Focus on leagues that have a high rate of draws. Such as Russian, Spanish, Italian and French lower divisions. They produce many draws every matchweek.

Conclusion

When betting draws, normalise selecting at least three matches. Just like every betting market, when you select too many games, your chances of losing your bets are high. And this has nothing to do with the odds.

Just as I did last week, I selected three draws, and luckily, I won all three.
