Manchester United confirms a "serious" injury

In a post-match press conference, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag confirmed that Anthony has sustained a "serious' injury last night.

While the Red Devils were earning their ticket to the Champions League, the Brazil international was sent off the pitch after being challenged by Trevoh Chalobah. Although anxious about the injury, the Dutchman stated that it will be after a day or so to fully determine the situation.

"Everyone has seen him come off, but I don't know how he is. I can tell you that it’s serious, but we have to wait a minimum of 24 hours and then we'll know more about the status of his injury," explained ten Hag.

This negative outcome for the 23-year-old will have him on the bench when Manchester United competes for the FA Cup on June 3.

Another United player, Luke Shaw didn't appear on the pitch after the first half of the Chelsea clash, due to a reportedly back complaint. Ten Hag, however, has not given any updates on Shaw's physique yet.

On May 25, Manchester United established a 4-1 victory over Chelsea and secured their spot in the Champions League next season, currently occupying the 3rd spot in the Premier League table with 72 points.
