Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji has named Vincent Kompany as the best defender in the Premier League.
Akanji's latest performances have impressed the boss Pep Guardiola, who shared his high praise for the player after the weekend's Southampton win, saying:
"I said for this season we need a striker and central defender. We were lucky to get him. He’s very pleased how his whole life is..."
Earlier, the Manchester City newcomer was compared to the club legend Kompany due to his skills and intelligence.
"Vincent Kompany was the best defender in the Premier League and being compared to him is a big honour," Akanji said, via City Xtra.
