Manchester City’s revenue is €568.4 million and there is no wonder, they need to pay huge figures to have a squad that will compete for the most elite trophies in Europe.
The Cityzens are spending £145m-a-year on wages. It’s over £30m-a-year more than Liverpool’. However, they are still not the biggest spenders in the Premier League and sit in just the second place.
Last season, Manchester City clinched their back-to-back Premier League title, EFL and FA Cups but they failed to impress in the Champions League.
This season Pep Guardiola’s side are looking to compete for the Champions League title, therefore, they don’t begrudge in spending money.
But who are the players, who earn the most in Guardiola’s squad?
Rodri
Rodri joined Manchester City in the summer from Atletico Madrid; however, he is already in the top 10 of highest-paid City stars. £ 6.300.000 is huge money for the 23-year-old defender, whose contract with the club expires in 2024.

Ilkay Gundogan
Gundogan joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in 2016 and has since been a key part of Guardiola’s side. The German has signed his latest contract extension in the summer of 2019 and will be at the club until 2023. The 29-year-old’s £7.280.000 annual salary is well deserved.

Raheem Sterling
Sterling is just eights highest-paid player at Etihad and he’s looking to sign a new contract to become the highest-paid player at the club. Sterling, who joined Manchester City from Liverpool in 2015, signed his last contract extension in November of 2019. His current deal will expire in 2023.

Bernardo Silva
Bernardo Silva is a key part of Pep Guardiola's squad. The left-winger joined the club from Monaco in 2017 and won two Premier League titles with the club. Bernardo signed his latest contract extension with the club in May of 2019, which will see him stay at Etihad until 2025.

David Silva
Manchester City could have not won all trophies during these years if there was not David Silva who is one of the best players in Pep Guardiola’s squad. Silva joined City from Valencia over a decade ago. He signed his latest contract extension in 2017; however, he will soon leave the club, as his contract expires at the end of the season and Silva, himself, has announced his long career ends.

Nicolas Otamendi
Otamendi is not the best player in Guardiola’s squad, however, he opens the top five of highest-paid City players. The 31-year-old joined City in 2015 from Valencia. He signed his latest contract extension in 2018 and it will end in 2022.

Fernandinho
Fernandinho, as well as his fellow teammate David Silva, will leave the club at the end of the season. But for now, he is the fourth highest-paid player at the club. The 34-year-old joined City in 2013 from Shakhtar Donetsk. In 2018, the Brazilian signed his latest contract extension which and at the end of the season. Fernandinho’s teammate Riyad Mahrez accidentally revealed that Fernandinho will also leave the club when his contract expires.

Riyad Mahrez
Mahrez, is not a key player in the Pep Guardiola’s side and he is failed to impressed City fans; however, he is the third highest-paid play at Etihad. The 28-year-old joined the club in the summer of 2018 from Leicester City. His contract with the club ends in 2023, but it is likely he will leave the club before the end of his contract.

Sergio Aguero
Another key member of Guardiola’s squad is Sergio Aguero. The striker joined City in 2011 from Atletico Madrid. The player has made more than 350 appearances for City and has scored more than 200 goals. It’s more than fair for him to earn the second highest salary at the club. Aguero signed his latest contract extension with the club in 2018, which will see him stay at the club until 2021.

Kevin de Bruyne
KRC Genk, Chelsea, Werder Bremen, Wolfsburg and finally Manchester City. The Belgian player joined Citizens in 2015. De Bruyne has become a key part of Pep Guardiola’s squad with his great playmaking skills. In 2018, the 28-year-old signed his latest contract extension and became the highest-paid player at Etihad. De Bruyne’s deal with the club expires in 2023.
