Team news

The newly appointed manager Roberto Martinez faced high expectations when he took over from Euro 2016-winning coach Fernando Santos, who had moved on to Poland.

However, the Spaniard couldn't have asked for a better start. In their first four matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, and Iceland, Portugal has amassed 12 points, scored 14 goals, and maintained a clean sheet in all four games.

Selecao's record at this level is impressive, with just one defeat in their last 19 matches, which occurred against Ukraine in 2019. Furthermore, they have a history of success against Slovakia, having remained undefeated in their previous four encounters, including a 2-0 win in a 2006 World Cup qualifier where Ronaldo scored his side's second goal.
