Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has once again confirmed that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will meet in 2020. Alvarez's promoter has discussed the possible dates for the fight.
“You will absolutely see Canelo and GGG fight next year,” De La Hoya told Los Angeles Times (via Boxingscene)
“It could be in May or September, but that fight will happen. But Canelo’s fight against Kovalev is huge. I think it’s bigger than a fight against GGG. It’s a mega-fight. Kovalev has a real shot to knock him out and beat him and people know that.” he added.
Golovkin and Alvarez met two times, in 2017 and 2018. Both fights had taken place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The first meeting finished with a controversial draw, while "Canelo" won a year later after referee decision.
